What It’s Best For
19 momme is our most balanced, all-purpose weight — smooth and cool against skin overnight, with enough body to hold elastic, seams, and shape wash after wash.
19 momme sits in the middle of our range. For our lightest, most fluid option see 16 momme silk satin. For the heaviest, most opaque option see 22 momme silk satin.
How It’s Made
Four stages, all of them ours. We don’t buy finished cloth and resell it, which is why the color card stays consistent from one batch to the next.
Raw mulberry silk yarn is woven into greige (unfinished) fabric on our own looms — the base cloth before any treatment.
The greige fabric is degummed and scoured to remove natural sericin, giving the silk its signature soft hand-feel and luster.
Fabric is dyed in-house in small, controlled batches — how we keep all 96 colors consistent and ready to ship.
Every roll is inspected by hand for weave consistency, color accuracy, and flaws before it’s cleared to ship.
Stock
Every one of our 96 colors sits on the shelf, dyed and ready. There’s no weaving lead time and no dyeing lead time to wait on — your order is cut, inspected, packed and shipped.
1 meter minimum, no maximum — bulk discounts apply automatically at 50m, 100m, and 200m.

Why Us
We aren’t a reseller — we are the mill. Every meter is woven, dyed, and cut in our own facility, so you’re paying for silk and labor, not three layers of distributor markup.
It’s how we keep Grade 6A 100% mulberry silk affordable for small brands, makers, and hobbyists — not just luxury houses.
Working With It
Thin charmeuse slips, frays, and shows every needle hole. A few adjustments make the difference.
Size 60/8 or 65/9 microtex or sharp. A universal needle pushes the filaments aside and leaves holes that never close up.
Fine polyester or silk thread. Heavy thread puckers the seam on a fabric this light.
French seams or a rolled hem, both of which enclose the raw edge. Overlocking works but adds bulk you can see through pale colors.
Single layer on a rotary mat, weighted rather than pinned through. Charmeuse has directional sheen, so keep the grain running one way or pieces will read as different colors.
Questions
19 momme sits in the middle of our range — noticeably more opaque than 16 momme, though pale colors can still show some translucency in bright light. It works well as a standalone garment fabric, not just a lining.
Yes, though at this weight it’s more commonly used as the main fabric for a garment rather than just a lining. It drapes well and holds a seam without feeling flimsy.
Both are the same 19 momme silk, just cut from rolls of different width. 140cm gives you more usable fabric per running meter, which can reduce waste on larger pattern pieces.
Like most mulberry silk, expect a small amount of shrinkage on the first wash. Pre-wash before cutting if your finished dimensions need to be exact.
Cold hand wash under 30°C with a neutral or silk-specific detergent. No alkaline detergent and no bleach. Dry in shade. Iron under 130°C with steam, keeping the iron moving.
